The College of Veterinary Medicine held an awareness lecture entitled "Spreading Health Awareness Among Students and Warning Against the Dangers of Smoking and Ways to Combat It" as part of the activities of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, with the attendance of the college students. The lecture was delivered by Ms. Hiam Rashid, who addressed the dangers of smoking and its negative impact on human health from a physiological perspective. Recent studies have shown that smoking greatly harms the liver, kidneys, lungs directly, the tongue, esophagus and pharynx, which exposes them to cancer. She explained that passive smokers, meaning children and the elderly who are exposed to cigarette smoke, are the most vulnerable group, as cigarettes contain 700 chemical compounds. The lecture recommended the necessity of staying away from smoking as much as possible, as it causes addiction and makes it difficult to quit, and keeping children and the elderly away from places where smoking is common to maintain their health and safety.
