The College of Veterinary Medicine held a seminar entitled monosodium glutamate, in the presence of the dean and members of the college. The episode included a lecture given by M.M. Hiyam Rashid Shehab, in which he touched on glutamate, which is a Chinese salt with the symbol MSG. It is a white crystalline substance that gives salads and foods a delicious taste and is one of the most famous flavorings and spices. It is used in Asian cuisine, and despite its good taste, it causes serious harm to the body’s health, as it affects the organs that receive glutamate, such as the brain, liver, and kidneys, and causes disruption in their functions.
