The College of Veterinary Medicine, in cooperation with the College of Nursing, as part of the activities of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, held a workshop entitled (Digital Drugs and their Psychological Effects). The workshop included a lecture in which the two teachers, M. Aso Ahmed Majeed and Eng. Nashwan Nazim Hassan to the following topics: 1. Definition of Internet and digital drug addiction, its causes, effects, and treatment methods. 2. The psychological, social and environmental factors that contribute to it. 3. The physical and psychological effects of Internet addiction. 4. How to diagnose Internet addiction and available assessment tools. 5. Brain mechanisms of Internet addiction and associated neurological changes. The episode came out with several recommendations, including: - Setting time limits for using the Internet and organizing time to engage in other activities. - Constant communication with children and teenagers to understand their behavior on the Internet. - Establish clear rules regarding using the Internet at home. - Encouraging outdoor activities and social interaction in the real world.
