As part of a series of activities of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, the College of Veterinary Medicine held a seminar entitled (The Dangers and Harms of Drugs and Smoking) in the presence of the Dean of the College, the teaching staff, and the associates. The lecture delivered by M. included: M. Walid Mahdi Abdullah about the dangers and harms of drugs and smoking, as drug addiction is one of the most dangerous problems to which the individual and society are exposed. It does not only affect the drug addict, but its effects extend to cause social and economic damage to society. He attributes the reasons for the spread of the drug scourge to weak religious faith, family disintegration, ignorance, and unemployment. The lecturer recommended a set of measures through which the risk of addiction can be reduced, including consulting a specialist doctor, visiting psychological and behavioral rehabilitation centers, and following treatment programs over periods of time to get rid of the effects of toxins.
