As part of the activities of the Continuing Education Division, the College of Veterinary Medicine held a discussion seminar entitled (The inhibitory effect of chloramphenicol on the bone marrow) in the presence of the faculty and associates. The seminar included a lecture given by Ms. Shah Miran Hussein in which she touched on chloramphenicol, which is an antibiotic that has side effects on the bone marrow and the formation of red blood cells. In humans and animals, the use of this antibiotic may cause leukemia. The lecture recommended avoiding the use of antibiotics for humans and animals.
