College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences Organizes a Qualitative Lecture on the Security Implications of the Speicher Massacre on Community Security

The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences organized a qualitative lecture on the security implications and repercussions of the Speicher massacre on community security, targeting first-stage female students.

The lecture, delivered by the Head of the Media and Government Communication Division, Assistant Lecturer Ali Abdul-Razzaq, aimed to address one of the most heinous crimes that shook the human conscience—the Speicher massacre—and its profound impacts on community security in Iraq.

The lecturer began by explaining the background of the massacre, noting that it was not merely a mass murder, but a systematic attempt to strike at the social fabric and incite discord among the components of Iraqi society.

He touched upon the most prominent repercussions of the massacre, especially the collective psychological trauma that afflicted the society, particularly the victims' families, and the decline in citizens' sense of safety due to the brutality and vast scale of the crime.

The lecturer also emphasized that confronting the aftermath of such crimes is not solely achieved through security measures, but by enhancing societal and media awareness, spreading a culture of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, supporting responsible media discourse, as well as documenting these crimes to preserve the national memory and prevent their recurrence.

He concluded the lecture by highlighting the students' role in conveying the truth professionally and contributing to building a media discourse that rejects violence and extremism, thereby reinforcing the values of national unity.
