The College of Veterinary Medicine organized a course entitled “The Legal Framework for Combating Corruption”, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Shahd Abbas Al-Attar, and the college’s members. The course included a lecture given by Dr. Mahmoud Adeeb Agha, in which he addressed several forms of the crime of corruption, such as bribery, embezzlement, job exploitation, breach of laws, and failure to adhere to job duties to achieve the public benefit. The lecturer touched on the legal treatments of corruption in the Iraqi Penal Code No. (111) of 1969, and that one of the most important reasons for the spread of corruption in state institutions is job dissatisfaction or failure of employees to adhere to public service laws. The course aimed to reform the social, economic, and political structure of the country in accordance with the growth of the general national feeling among members of society that financial and administrative corruption constitutes a serious danger and is considered a behavior that deviates from the basic values and principles of the state, such as duties, official rules, laws, and legislation that the employee performs through the performance of his job duties.
