The College of Veterinary Medicine held a discussion session entitled “Symptoms of Purulent Metritis in Cats and Methods of Treatment,” in the presence of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Mahmoud Adeeb Agha, and the College’s members and students. The session included a lecture given by Ms. Fatima Juma Asghar, in which she addressed the main reasons that made cats desirable to humans, which is their love of cleanliness, which resulted in their being raised extensively in homes, and negatively affected them, making it difficult to diagnose diseases, especially this disease, as it is not diagnosed until the disease condition in cats worsens. She added that the use of hormonal treatments such as progesterone has many negative effects on them. The lecturer recommended periodic examinations of cats to determine their health status, and in the event of purulent metritis, a hysterectomy should be performed, and avoiding the use of progesterone injections to prevent pregnancy because of their negative effects on them.
