The College of Veterinary Medicine held a workshop entitled Chemical, Biological and Radiation Safety and Security, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Mahmoud Adeeb Agha, and the college’s members and students. The workshop included a lecture given by M.M. Jalnak Madad Werdi and Shah Miran Hussein, in which she addressed practices, procedures and use of equipment to ensure safe working conditions in laboratories, dealing with infectious microorganisms, ensuring human protection from exposure to dangerous biological agents, how to deal with chemicals and types of injuries that occur in laboratories such as poisoning, suffocation and allergies. The lecture recommended using personal protective equipment and dealing with hazardous chemicals with great caution, not touching or tasting any chemical, using a gas evacuator, using tweezers and wearing rubber gloves, disconnecting the electricity and closing the gas valve when finishing work in the laboratory, emphasizing the placement of warning signs in laboratories, the presence of a private pharmacy in each laboratory and an emergency shower to treat critical cases, and the presence of a fire extinguisher in all laboratories.
