The College of Veterinary Medicine holds a workshop on drugs

In conjunction with the launch of the guidance week at the university, the Continuing Education Division, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Veterinary Medicine, held a workshop entitled Drugs and Their Harm to Mental Health, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Mahmoud Adeeb Agha, and the college’s members and students. The workshop included a lecture given by Engineer Shawan Najat Muhammad, Director of the Media and Relations Division at the General Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, in which he addressed the concept of drugs and their role in causing addiction and poisoning the nervous system, as the term drug is used to refer to anything that takes away the mind and makes it absent because it contains chemical substances that lead to severe drowsiness and sleep or loss of consciousness, touching on the reasons for drug abuse, which are psychological, family disputes, social isolation, exposure to emotional shocks, genetic genes, out of curiosity, or accompanying friends who use drugs. The lecturer recommended the necessity of staying away from all types of drugs by strengthening the religious conscience of children, respecting their opinions, and containing them by giving them self-confidence and how to deal with psychological and social pressures, and focusing on showing their personal talents such as sports, drawing, writing, software, and others.
