The College of Veterinary Medicine organized a training seminar titled "The Physiological Perspective of Vitamin D: The Hidden Link in Blood Sugar Regulation and Diabetes Prevention," attended by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Shahad Abbas Al-Attar, and college staff.
The seminar featured a lecture by Assistant Lecturer Noor Faisal, who highlighted the importance of Vitamin D—classified as a steroid hormone—in preventing diabetes. She explained its role in regulating insulin secretion and blood sugar levels, noting that a deficiency is linked to insulin resistance in diabetic patients. Additionally, she discussed its effective role in reducing the risk of chronic inflammation and boosting the body's immunity.
The seminar concluded with recommendations to undergo regular check-ups to monitor Vitamin D levels and to maintain a diet rich in healthy vitamins and minerals.
