Dr. Al-Mu'taz Billah Khalid, a faculty member at the College of Veterinary Medicine, participated in a scientific seminar held by the College of Media entitled "Biological Warfare and the Media and its Relationship to Health Security Enhancements." The seminar addressed the following topics: defining the types of biological agents, their characteristics, and methods of dissemination; presenting a historical overview of the use of biological agents in ancient and modern times; discussing the radioactive contamination that Iraq experienced during the Gulf War and the 2003 Iraq War; and emphasizing the importance of treating contaminated sites and the serious diseases resulting from exposure to depleted uranium. The seminar aimed to demonstrate the role of the media in raising awareness of biological risks and promoting a culture of health security, and to present the most important recommendations for enhancing health security in Iraq, in light of regional challenges, international tensions, and their potential impact on the countries of the region.
