The University Psychological Counseling Division and the Human Rights Unit at the College of Veterinary Medicine organized an awareness seminar entitled "Intellectual Extremism: A Silent Danger Threatening the Future of Youth." The seminar was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Shahd Abbas Al-Attar, as well as faculty, staff, and students.
The seminar, presented by Brigadier General Raed Hamid Hassan, Director of Nationality and Travel in Kirkuk Governorate, addressed several key themes. These included the role of social peace in combating extremism, which lies in strengthening belonging, tolerance, and coexistence, and comprehensively addressing the root causes of extremism. The seminar also emphasized the necessity of providing a suitable cultural environment that encourages positive and sound thinking and protects against negative extremist influences. Social peace and intellectual security are considered among the most important pillars for confronting extremism in all its forms.
The seminar aimed to enhance the role of youth in society through awareness and social education, promoting national belonging, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence, and addressing the root causes of extremism.
