The Anatomy and Histology Branch is one of the most important scientific branches that were established in the college. The branch teaches anatomy materials to first-year students and anatomy, histology, and embryology materials to second-year students. The branch works to be one of the leading branches in the field of research and teaching among the corresponding branches in Iraqi veterinary colleges. The branch conducts joint scientific research with other specialties that are at the forefront of basic veterinary medical science research, as well as providing high-level teaching and learning for undergraduate students. The branch actively participates with the basic and clinical veterinary medical sciences branches to exchange experiences in areas of common interest. And as The Anatomy Branch staff strives to work together and conduct research with highly qualified people and provide the basic requirements that will facilitate research and learning.

In teaching the subject of anatomy, histology and embryology, the branch relies on faculty members with high-level experience and excellent qualifications in teaching and scientific research. Teaching is carried out using samples prepared by the branch’s teaching staff of different animal organs for the purpose of comparison between groups of different animals, keeping pace with what is taught in the rest of the Arab universities. And international, the branch aims to transfer scientific knowledge of animal anatomy with the various parts of the animal’s body, both visually and microscopically, as well as identifying the process of emergence and growth of the different parts of the fetus’s body. Anatomy and histology are considered an introduction to scientific subjects in the later stages, especially physiology, pathology, and other applied sciences such as surgery, obstetrics, and internal medicine. As well as teaching tissues and embryos.

The study of the anatomy subject is divided into:-

1- Macroscopic anatomy (microanatomy) Gross
2- Microscopic anatomy (histology)
3- Embryology
The process of teaching anatomy is divided into:

a- A systemic anatomy study
b- Tomographic anatomy
c- A study of comparative anatomy
d- The study of applied anatomy
