Technology Incubator and Ecosystem Unit:
The Technology Incubator and Ecosystem Unit was established in the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2023 and is linked to the Technology Incubator Division at the University Presidency. It is a platform or support space for developing innovative ideas and projects, particularly in technological fields. Incubators provide the necessary resources for entrepreneurs and innovators, such as funding, training, consulting, infrastructure, and opportunities to connect with investors and experts. They also aim to enhance knowledge and capabilities within the university community.
Objectives of the Technology Incubator:
The primary goal of the unit is to incubate and support the entrepreneurial ideas of university entrepreneurs across all sectors and transform them into viable projects that benefit the national economy. Other objectives for establishing the incubator unit include:
1. Spreading the culture of entrepreneurship among university students, faculty, alumni, and the community.
2. Providing training on creating small projects and avoiding failures.
3. Educating entrepreneurs on how to protect their innovations and creativity.
4. Fostering entrepreneurial ideas and providing technical support.
5. Training and supporting entrepreneurs in entrepreneurial planning and providing support during the implementation period.
6. Overcoming administrative, financial, and legislative obstacles facing entrepreneurs in Iraq by activating mechanisms within existing legislation to serve university-based projects.
The Technology Incubator Unit's tasks:
* Providing legal, technical, administrative, training, marketing, and advisory services.
* Providing investment services related to feasibility studies and facilitating access to funding sources.
* Providing financial, administrative, and marketing support and advice, in addition to administrative or technical training, to incubated projects.
