About the Department of Anatomy and Veterinary Contracting

The Department of Anatomy and Histology is one of the most important scientific departments established at the college. It teaches anatomy to first-year students and anatomy, histology, and embryology to second-year students. The department is considered a major specialization in the field and is among the leading scientific departments in Iraqi forensic medicine colleges. It collaborates with other departments at the forefront of basic medical science research and provides high-level teaching and learning for undergraduate students. The department also participates in the exchange of expertise in basic and clinical medical specialties, focusing on areas of mutual interest. Furthermore, it strives to facilitate research and learning by working with experienced professionals in a clear and straightforward manner.

About the Department of Anatomy and Histology The Department of Animal Anatomy and Embryology relies on highly qualified faculty members with exceptional scientific teaching skills. The department utilizes advanced technology, employing a structured approach that integrates various disciplines, including anatomical and embryological techniques. This approach differs from that used in other Arab and international specializations. The department aims to impart scientific knowledge of multidisciplinary anatomy, both macroscopic and microscopic, focusing on understanding the development and growth of different embryos. Anatomy and histology serve as an introduction to subsequent scientific subjects, particularly physiology, pathology, and other applied sciences such as surgery, obstetrics, and internal medicine. Embryology is also taught.

The department operates a dissection room equipped with anatomical specimens, a dedicated area for preparing anatomical specimens, and a specialized tissue sectioning area. This section utilizes state-of-the-art educational equipment and a reliable microscope for practical histology instruction. The department also features dissection models of numerous complete skeletal structures and individual bones, specially prepared by the department's staff to facilitate both.

Vision: To become a distinguished center for providing high-quality knowledge in anatomy and histology, contributing to a deeper understanding of fundamental structures.

Mission: To enable students to explore the intersection of anatomy with other related sciences, such as physiology, and to demonstrate how this knowledge can be applied in other applied sciences.

Objectives:

1. To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of anatomy, histology, and spatial structures.

2. To compare anatomical structures among different animals and understand their differences and functions.

3. To apply anatomical knowledge to diverse cases.
