Poultry Diseases and Pathology

The Department of Poultry Diseases and Pathology at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Kirkuk, was established in the 2018/2019 academic year. The department aspires to become a model department among veterinary colleges in Iraq, aiming to advance the diagnostic aspects of veterinary diseases, as well as forensic medicine, pathology, and fish diseases. The department works to graduate veterinarians with a high level of scientific and practical expertise. It strives to ensure that the department's scientific output forms a foundation for postgraduate studies, boasting professors specializing in poultry and fish diseases. Furthermore, the department has developed a roadmap for the continuous development of its teaching staff by enrolling them in training courses both within and outside Iraq. This ensures the acquisition of scientific knowledge and skills, enabling staff to stay abreast of scientific advancements in the aforementioned fields. The department is committed to keeping pace with progress by updating its curricula and scientific research annually. The department works to encourage faculty members to stay abreast of the latest developments in the fields of pathology, poultry diseases, pathological anatomy, forensic medicine, and fish diseases through research and by monitoring international publications in these areas. It also focuses on developing and upgrading the department's scientific laboratories by equipping them with advanced and modern scientific equipment. Furthermore, it fosters a spirit of scientific inquiry among faculty members by organizing seminars and workshops within the department and by activating the department's scientific committee to monitor scientific research.

The Pathology Department is divided into:

1- Poultry Diseases Division: This division includes faculty members specializing in poultry diseases who teach theoretical, practical, and clinical courses to fourth- and fifth-year students.

2- Pathology Division: This division includes faculty members specializing in pathology who teach theoretical and practical pathology courses to third-year students.

3- Fish Disease Division: This division includes faculty members specializing in fish breeding, nutrition, and fish diseases. Fish.

To achieve excellence and leadership in education and scientific research in the field of animal and poultry diseases, and to actively contribute to improving animal and poultry health at the local and regional levels by developing diagnostic, treatment, and prevention methods.

Mission:

To provide a distinguished academic and scientific environment for training students and researchers in the diagnosis and treatment of animal and poultry diseases, with a focus on modern applied and research aspects, and to contribute to community service through veterinary consultations and health awareness.

Objectives:
1- To qualify students scientifically and practically in the fields of internal medicine and poultry diseases in accordance with labor market requirements.

2- To prepare distinguished research personnel capable of conducting advanced scientific research in the field of veterinary diseases.

3- To develop modern diagnostic and treatment methods using advanced laboratory and field techniques.

4- To enhance cooperation with local and international scientific and research institutions.

5- To raise the level of veterinary health awareness in the community through seminars, workshops, and awareness campaigns.

6- To contribute to controlling zoonotic diseases and achieving Food security.
