About the Parasitology Department:

The Parasitology Department is one of the departments within the Microbiology Department established at the college. Parasitology is a fundamental science studied in medical and science colleges. It encompasses the study of parasites (worms, protozoa, and insects) and is taught to third-year students. The department also provides scientific consultations to relevant departments. It strives to be a leading department in research and teaching among its counterparts in Iraqi veterinary colleges. The department conducts joint scientific research with other disciplines at the forefront of basic veterinary medical research and provides high-quality education and learning for undergraduate students. It actively participates with other basic and clinical veterinary medical science departments to exchange expertise in areas of mutual interest. The Parasitology Department staff is committed to collaborative work and research with highly qualified professionals, ensuring the necessary resources are available to facilitate research and learning.

The Parasitology Department relies on highly experienced faculty members with excellent teaching and research qualifications. Theoretical lessons utilize presentation techniques, while practical sessions employ real parasite specimens collected from field animals, scientific slides, and explanatory videos. The department's teaching methods align with those of other Arab and international universities. The department aims to impart scientific knowledge of parasitology and all its branches to undergraduate students.

The Parasitology Department boasts a laboratory equipped with essential instruments for conducting necessary tests and analyses, as well as for teaching undergraduate students. Workshops and training courses are also held in the parasitology laboratory to develop mid-level staff from both within and outside the college.
