Today, within the curriculum of the Human Rights Unit, the Faculty of Information at Kirkuk University held an awareness-raising artistic lecture entitled “Art is one of the university student’s rights,” in the presence of a number of the college’s teachers and students, delivered by Professor Dr. Louay Najm Girgis, in cooperation with the Student Activities Division.
The lecture addressed the dimensions of artistic practice on campus, and the role of art as a means of human and cultural expression and an inherent right that contributes to refining the university student’s personality, developing his creative skills, and enhancing his intellectual and aesthetic abilities in addition to his academic achievement.
The lecture also witnessed interactive interventions and discussions between the lecturer and attendees, highlighting the importance of supporting young artistic energies and creating appropriate spaces to highlight students’ talents and artistic creativity.
The Dean of the College of Information, Professor Dr. Maad Assi Ali, confirmed that holding this lecture comes within the framework of the college’s plans and periodic programs, and in coordination with the Human Rights Unit, to enhance artistic and aesthetic awareness among students, consolidate the culture of creativity, and activate the role of art in building a university environment that encourages excellence and innovation, pointing out the importance of paying attention to student talents and supporting their artistic and creative abilities.
