Under the patronage of the President of the University of Kirkuk, Prof. Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Chelang Akram Omar, the University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Engineering organized an educational seminar entitled “Reducing Illegal Immigration and Setting Standards to Combat It.”
The event was held in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit and the Women’s Affairs Unit, in the main hall of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The seminar included awareness lectures delivered by Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Shakir, Ms. Saba Fadel Ahmed, Head of the Psychological Counseling Unit, and Dr. Hend Mahmood Khudhur, Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit.
The lectures addressed the causes, motivations, and risks of illegal immigration for individuals and society, as well as ways to raise social awareness and enhance legal literacy to curb the spread of this phenomenon.
The speakers emphasized the importance of educating young people about the dangers of illegal immigration and the role of educational institutions in fostering values of belonging, responsibility, and national loyalty through awareness activities, educational campaigns, and positive engagement with students and the community.
The seminar concluded with a set of recommendations calling for the investment of youth potential within the country, contributing to the building of a secure and stable future that supports the path toward sustainable development. The event witnessed wide interaction and fruitful discussions among attendees regarding effective ways to reduce illegal immigration.
