A specialized committee from the Presidency of the University of Kirkuk, led by Professor Dr. Najat Qadir Omar, Director of the Postgraduate Studies Department, conducted an official visit to the Petroleum Engineering Department at the College of Engineering. The visit aimed to assess the department’s readiness and infrastructure for the upcoming launch of a Master of Science (M.Sc.) program in Petroleum Engineering.
The delegation was received by Dr. Abdul Majeed Abdul Hameed, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs; Assistant Professor Dr. Adnan Ajam, Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department; Assistant Professor Dr. Yahya Jirjis, Head of the Scientific Committee; and Dr. Mohammed Adel Ismail, the Department Coordinator.
Comprehensive Infrastructure Assessment
The inspection tour covered several key areas, including:
Logistical & Human Resources: Evaluating the academic staff’s expertise and administrative readiness.
Scientific Facilities: A thorough review of the specialized laboratories and the central library’s resources.
Curriculum Review: Discussing the proposed scientific syllabi and course modules to ensure they meet the rigorous standards required for postgraduate studies.
Technical Equipment: Inspecting laboratory hardware and equipment to ensure a high-standard academic environment for prospective researchers.
Upon concluding the visit, the committee expressed high satisfaction with the department's preparations. They praised the existing scientific and material capabilities, noting that the current resources provide a solid foundation for establishing a high-quality Master’s program.
The committee further extended its appreciation to the Deanship of the College, the department's management, and the scientific committees for their exceptional organization and cooperation. This visit marks a significant step forward in the University of Kirkuk’s mission to expand its academic offerings and foster advanced engineering research.
