Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, Assistant Professor Dr. Essam Hadi Mohammed, the Department of Business Administration organized a student awareness lecture entitled "Cyber Extortion," in cooperation with the University Psychological Counseling Division, presented by Assistant Professor Shoaib Mohammed Shareef.
The lecture aimed to raise students' awareness about the dangers of cyber extortion, which is considered one of the modern crimes known as the "Silent Crime" due to its serious psychological and social impacts on individuals.

The lecture covered the prominent forms and methods of cyber extortion, highlighting its growing prevalence in light of rapid technological development. It noted that the age group most vulnerable to this crime ranges between 15 to 35 years old, and that women are targeted more frequently compared to men.
It also shed light on common extortion methods, which often occur through threats to publish personal photos or information in exchange for financial or moral gains, as well as reviewing the legal aspects and procedures followed to curb this phenomenon.

The lecture emphasized the importance of adhering to digital safety measures, avoiding the sharing of personal data on social media platforms, and the necessity of reporting extortion cases to the competent authorities, contributing to curbing the spread of this crime and fostering a safe online environment.
