Conference hall in the college
The thesis aimed to determine the reasons for caesarean section among virgin women, as the study sample included 200 virgin women who underwent a caesarean section and who were hospitalized in women's units in Kirkuk hospitals. Data were collected through questionnaire and interview technique.
The results showed that head and pelvis disproportionality and fetal malpresentation are the most common reasons for caesarean section. Anesthesia complications, anemia, blood transfusion, and postpartum hemorrhage were the most common maternal outcomes, while resuscitation, medication/or intubation, low Apgar score, and need for neonatal intensive care unit were the most common neonatal outcomes. Reproductive history was significantly related to the mother's age, residence and monthly income, and type of prenatal care, and there was a strong relationship with significant statistical significance between maternal and newborn outcomes.
The letter recommended the need to increase pregnant women’s awareness regarding the impact of caesarean sections on the mother and fetus during periodic visits to prenatal health care centers, and the necessity of performing caesarean sections for medical and emergency cases by obstetricians and gynecologists, especially in private units and hospitals, while providing doctors with comprehensive medical justifications for the practice. cesarean section.
