For this reason, the morning breakfast, especially a healthy meal, is considered an essential meal as it provides children with the nutrition and energy they need. Studies have recently found an increasing rate of skipping breakfast in children, as there is There are certain factors behind why they skip breakfast.
The thesis aimed to estimate the prevalence of skipping breakfast and explore the factors behind skipping a healthy breakfast among primary school children in Kirkuk city. Assessing parents’ awareness of the importance of a healthy breakfast, identifying the type of breakfast consumed by children, and finally discovering the relationship between skipping a healthy breakfast and some social and demographic characteristics of children.
The letter concluded that: Of the 400 children, 397 were selected to participate in the study, with a response rate of 99.3%. It was found that more than half of the children (54.7%) skip breakfast, and among these, 125 (31.4%) always skip it, 67 (16.8%) often skip it, and 25 (6.3%) sometimes skip it. The presence of several factors associated with skipping breakfast was explored, including times and quality of sleep (p 0.001), times of waking up (p 0.001), times of morning breakfast (p 0.001), physical activity (p 0.016), and educational level of the mother (p < 0.001).
The letter found: The times and quality of sleep, wake-up times, morning breakfast times, physical activity, and maternal education level are clear factors behind skipping a healthy breakfast among primary school children, which in turn requires the development of educational programs for mothers about the importance of a healthy breakfast for children, in addition to the necessity of Implementation of the school morning breakfast program.
