On the occasion of Iraqi National Sovereignty Day, the College of Media at Kirkuk University held a diverse national festival organized by the Student Activities Division. The event was attended by the Dean of the College, faculty members, staff, and students, amidst a patriotic atmosphere that reflected pride in Iraq, its sovereignty, and its national unity.
The festival began with the playing of the national anthem and the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah in remembrance of Iraq's martyrs, followed by a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. The program included a variety of national, cultural, and artistic performances presented by students, reflecting a spirit of belonging and pride in the homeland and emphasizing the importance of national sovereignty as a fundamental pillar in consolidating the state and strengthening its identity and standing.
In his address on this occasion, the Dean of the College of Media, Professor Dr. Mu'ad Assi Ali, emphasized that celebrating National Sovereignty Day is an important occasion to commemorate Iraq's milestones and the sacrifices of its people, and to renew pride in its unity and sovereignty. He pointed out that universities play a pivotal role in instilling the values of citizenship and national awareness in students, and in cultivating their sense of responsibility towards their homeland and its future.
The Dean commended the efforts of the Student Activities Division and the students who participated in preparing and organizing the festival. He affirmed the College's commitment to supporting national, cultural, and student events, as they represent an important platform for discovering talents, developing capabilities, and fostering a spirit of participation and interaction within the university environment.
The festival concluded with the College of Media reaffirming its continued support for national, cultural, and student initiatives and activities, which contribute to building a conscious, creative, and responsible university student capable of serving Iraq and preserving its achievements.
The festival embodied an honorable national image of the College of Media family, through which it affirmed that the university is not only a space for science and knowledge, but also a platform for consolidating the values of citizenship and belonging, and creating an awareness that befits the history and present of Iraq, and keeps pace with its aspirations towards a brighter future.
