The College of Media at the University of Kirkuk organized an educational awareness lecture regarding the rights of students and faculty members within the university campus. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Fatima Salem Zainal from the Department of Journalism and was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Maad Assi Ali, along with faculty members and students.
The lecture addressed the importance of fostering an academic relationship based on mutual respect, cooperation, and responsibility between students and faculty. Such a relationship contributes to creating a safe, fair university environment that stimulates learning, creativity, and scientific research.
The session outlined key rights within the university setting, notably the freedom of thought and academic expression, the right to education, equal opportunities, and non-discrimination. It also highlighted the rights of students and faculty to discuss ideas and opinions and to conduct scientific research, all within the bounds of legal frameworks, university regulations, and ethical standards.
The Dean of the College of Media emphasized that awareness of rights and duties is fundamental to enhancing academic discipline, building positive relationships, and embedding a culture of dialogue, respect, and cooperation across the campus.
This lecture is part of the College of Media’s efforts to promote university culture and raise awareness regarding rights and responsibilities. These initiatives aim to build a robust academic environment that supports education and scientific research while being grounded in respect, responsibility, and constructive dialogue.
