The University Psychological Counseling Division at the College of Media organized an awareness and educational campaign highlighting the dangers of ideological extremism—a potential pathway to violence. The initiative sought to foster awareness among students and staff regarding the importance of rejecting extremist ideologies—both on and off campus—and to instill values of dialogue, moderation, and coexistence.
The campaign aimed to elevate the level of intellectual awareness among the university community, warn against the perils of extremism and hate speech, and enhance the ability to distinguish between moderate and hardline ideologies. These efforts contribute to fostering a safe university environment grounded in dialogue, respect for diversity, and acceptance of others.
The Dean of the College of Media, Professor Dr. Maad Assi Ali, emphasized that confronting ideological extremism is both an intellectual and societal responsibility requiring concerted efforts to raise awareness and embed a culture of dialogue, moderation, and acceptance. He underscored the vital role academic institutions play in intellectually fortifying students, developing their awareness, and cultivating a generation capable of countering extremist ideas through scholarship, knowledge, and enlightened thinking.
