The College of Media organized an educational and awareness-raising seminar addressing the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking, as well as ways to protect young people from falling prey to this scourge. The event was attended by the College Dean, along with faculty members and staff.
Held in the discussion hall, this seminar marked the beginning of the academic year's schedule of scholarly and awareness-raising activities. It aimed to raise awareness regarding the dangers of drugs—and their health, psychological, and social impacts—while emphasizing the importance of prevention and education in safeguarding youth against this menace.
The seminar addressed the primary causes of drug proliferation and the tactics used to lure young people into addiction. It also highlighted the roles of families, educational institutions, and the community in fostering awareness and promoting positive behaviors, thereby contributing to student protection and the creation of a safe, stable university environment.
Professor Dr. Maad Assi Ali, Dean of the College of Media, emphasized that combating the drug problem is a shared responsibility requiring coordinated efforts among families, educational institutions, and the community. He stressed the importance of intensifying awareness programs aimed at youth to heighten their understanding of the dangers associated with drugs and the devastating effects this scourge has on individuals, families, and society at large.
He further noted that the College of Media plays an active role in promoting community awareness by leveraging its academic and media mission to support causes vital to societal security and individual well-being, while instilling a culture of prevention and responsibility among students.
