Under the patronage of the Honorable Mrs. Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Celnik Akram Omar, and with Ashraf Al-Sayyid, Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Adnan Ajam Abdel-Muharram
Within the framework of developing and enhancing the practical knowledge of the students of the Department of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Kirkuk, the college, in cooperation with the North Oil Company and the Iraqi Drilling Company, organized a scientific field visit to the Bay Hassan field, which is one of the main oil fields in Kirkuk Governorate.
The visit included various activities, including a tour of field sites and oil facilities, so that the students were able to watch drilling and production operations, and learn closely about the techniques used in extracting oil and gas. The accompanying experts and engineers also provided comprehensive explanations about the exploration and prospecting operations, and the manufacturing and refining operations that take place at the oil sites.
Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Jawad Zain Al-Abidin, supervising the visit, stressed the importance of this event in enhancing students’ understanding of the operations of the oil and gas industry on the ground, and applying the theoretical concepts they learn in the classroom. He pointed out that such visits contribute to qualifying students for the labor market and increasing their employment opportunities, as they enable them to acquire the skills and practical experience required in the oil and gas industry.
This visit is part of a series of events and activities that the university aims to enhance practical education and provide comprehensive educational opportunities for its students in various engineering and scientific fields.
