As part of efforts to support discoveries and innovations in the field of technology, the Governor of Kirkuk, Mr. Rebwar Talabani, and the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, inaugurated the Third Kirkuk Technology Festival, hosted by the College of Engineering at the University of Kirkuk. The opening ceremony was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Chelang Akram Omar, along with a large number of local dignitaries, government officials, and university deans.
The festival features a variety of activities, including scientific competitions, traditional food displays, sports and chess tournaments, art and painting exhibitions, as well as showcases of engineering devices and innovations.
The event aims to promote technological awareness and innovation in Iraqi society, particularly in the beloved city of Kirkuk. It provides a valuable platform for students, engineers, and inventors to present their engineering and technological ideas. The festival will run for three days, beginning on Monday, April 14, 2024. It includes numerous activities designed to enhance participants’ skills in creativity and technology, and it is drawing significant interest from tech enthusiasts across the governorate.
A large number of students and innovation enthusiasts from Kirkuk and other Iraqi provinces attended the opening ceremony and toured the exhibition to explore the latest technological and engineering innovations.
Prof. Dr. Chelang Akram Omar wished the participants success in their technical and innovative pursuits and praised their efforts to develop the technical and private sectors in the city. She emphasized that the most promising projects would be submitted to the Kirkuk Governorate and the University Presidency for possible implementation.
She further noted that the festival provides a platform for students, companies, and innovators to showcase the latest technologies and inventions and to exchange knowledge and expertise in this field. She also highlighted the continued commitment of the University Presidency and the College of Engineering to support innovation and the development of both public and private sectors in Iraq.
