A lecturer publishes a scientific research on decemented geopolymer concrete

The lecturer from the Department of Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering, Dr. Ghassan Hussein Al-Hamr, in cooperation with Professor Dr. Abdul Qader Civek, a researcher and lecturer at Gaziantep University in Turkey, published a scientific research entitled (Magnesium Sulfate Resistance of Strain-Hardening Fiber Reinforced Slag and FlyAsh-BasedEngineered GeopolymerComposites) in the Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering, which is classified within Springer Q1 containers. The research dealt with studying the mechanical properties and durability of decemented geopolymer concrete reinforced with polyvinyl alcohol fibers after immersing it in 5% magnesium sulfate for 120 days. The study concluded that the mechanical properties and ductility properties of decemented concrete (geopolymer concrete) were higher than those of concrete made of Portland cement when exposed to 5% magnesium sulphate.
