The Petroleum Engineering Department at the University of Kirkuk's College of Engineering held a scientific counseling workshop for fourth-stage students of the academic year 2025/2026 titled "Building the Professional Identity of the Emerging Engineer." The workshop was organized in cooperation with the University Psychological Counseling, Continuous Education, and Government Media and Communications divisions.
The workshop covered themes addressing the components of an engineer's professional identity, engineering practice standards, and the importance of competence, ethics, and effective communication in the work environment. It also featured practical examples of engineering decision-making within the oil sector and the optimization of production systems.
The presenter, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Jawad Zain Al-Abidin, stated that building the professional identity of an emerging engineer begins with developing scientific competence, adhering to professional ethics, and acquiring analysis and decision-making skills. This effectively qualifies students for seamless integration into the engineering labor market.
