Within the framework of academic institutions' efforts to keep pace with rapid digital transformation and enhance the alignment of higher education outcomes with modern labor market requirements, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering, University of Kirkuk—in cooperation with the University Psychological Counseling Division and the Continuing Education Division—organized a scientific workshop titled "Digital Transformation and Future Job Skills," as part of programs aimed at increasing the readiness of students and graduates for the contemporary professional environment.
The workshop addressed the concept of digital transformation as a fundamental pillar for developing engineering and institutional work environments, highlighting the role of modern technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, data analysis, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in enhancing institutional efficiency and improving the quality of performance and outcomes.
The workshop also discussed the rapid shifts in the labor market and the challenges and opportunities they impose, which necessitate developing professional skills in line with successive technological advancements and enhancing graduates' ability to adapt to future changes.
The workshop themes emphasized the importance of integration between technical skills and soft skills, particularly effective communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and time management, alongside consolidating the culture of continuous learning and self-development as pivotal elements in building students' career paths.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the floor was opened for discussion and dialogue with the participants, where a series of questions and interventions were presented that contributed to deepening the practical understanding of the digital transformation concept and clarifying its implications for future career options, thereby strengthening the link between theoretical and practical aspects.
This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities implemented by the College of Engineering, within the framework of its efforts to develop the academic environment, enhance the quality of educational outcomes, and raise the level of compatibility between study programs and modern labor market requirements.
