Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, President of the University of Kirkuk, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Chelang Akram Omar, Dean of the College of Engineering, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Unit and the Continuing Education Division, organized a central celebration on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The event took place on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in the central hall of the Mechanical Engineering Department.
The celebration began with a welcoming speech, followed by an address from Prof. Dr. Chelang Akram Omar, Dean of the College of Engineering, in which she emphasized the important role of women in the academic and research community. She also praised the efforts of the female faculty members and staff in the college, highlighting their active contributions to the advancement of scientific and administrative work.
During the event, the Dean of the College of Engineering was honored for her outstanding efforts in developing the college. Additionally, commemorative gifts were distributed to the female faculty members and staff as a token of appreciation for their continuous dedication and contributions.
The celebration also featured poetry recitations about women and their role in society, along with a presentation highlighting women’s achievements in scientific and engineering fields.
A discussion session was held, focusing on the significance of women in the academic workplace, with insightful contributions from attendees regarding the role of women in academia.
The event concluded with words of gratitude and appreciation to all participants, creating an atmosphere of respect and recognition for women’s contributions to academia and education.
