An educational seminar at the College of Engineering at the University of Kirkuk on combating drugs and psychotropic substances

 Under the patronage of the President of Kirkuk University, Prof. Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Jalnak Akram Omar, the Continuing Education Division at the College of Engineering, in cooperation with the Educational Guidance Unit and the Women's Empowerment Unit, organized an educational seminar entitled "Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances". The seminar was presented by the lecturer, M.Sc., Assistant Lecturer Mohsen Salman Ali, from the Department of Electrical Engineering.

The seminar was held on We dnesday, 16-10-2024, at 10:30 am, in the Central Hall of the College of Engineering / Department of Mechanical Engineering, second floor. The seminar aimed to raise awareness among the academic community, especially students, about the dangers of drugs and psychotropic substances, while highlighting the negative effects that these phenomena cause on the mental and physical health of individuals, as well as on society as a whole.

The seminar addressed multiple topics, including defining the types of drugs and psychotropic substances, ways to prevent them, and the legal and social consequences of their use. The session also included an open discussion with students, where questions were raised about how to deal with these issues in the university environment.
The seminar was moderated by Prof. Dr. Youssef Salam Saeed, Director of the Continuing Education Division at the College of Engineering, who stressed the importance of these seminars in raising awareness among young people, especially at the university level, to confront this danger that threatens the stability and progress of society. At the end of the seminar, the participants called for organizing more similar awareness events that aim to educate students and enhance their awareness of the need to stay away from risks that may negatively affect their academic and professional life path.
