Dr. Ahmed Issam Dawood, a lecturer at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, participated as a lecturer in the field observation organized by the Agricultural Guidance and Training Center in cooperation with the Horticulture Department and Kirkuk Agriculture Directorate, on modern methods of managing and serving olive groves, with the attendance and participation of a number of farmers. The lecturer explained that his lecture included two parts, theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, the attendees were introduced to the economic importance of olive trees and their types, choosing the appropriate place for cultivation, methods of planting olive trees, the most important contemporary service operations (irrigation, fertilization, pruning, lighting, and harvesting) and the use of artificial intelligence in them, and the method of preserving olive fruits after harvest and marketing. As for the practical part, it included a field visit to the Al-Hisar extension farm, to introduce participants to olive cultivation methods and planting distances, the most important diseases that affect olive trees and how to combat them and how to prune trees.
