The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Kirkuk, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling Division, organized a scientific workshop entitled “The Cultural Identity of the Arab Child in Light of Global Challenges,” presented by Assistant Professor Watban Muhammad Ahmad Al-Nuaimi, with the participation of Ms. Nourhan Rushdi.
The workshop addressed an important topic related to child-rearing in a rapidly changing world, focusing on defining the cultural identity of the Arab child, which encompasses the Arabic language, social values, customs and traditions, and national and religious belonging.
It also highlighted the most prominent challenges facing this identity, such as the impact of globalization, media openness, the spread of technology and social media, in addition to the dominance of foreign cultures over content directed at children.
Furthermore, the workshop discussed the role of the family, school, and educational institutions in enhancing cultural identity by reinforcing the Arabic language, developing heritage awareness, and providing purposeful educational and media content.
It also presented a set of practical recommendations to maintain a balance between openness to the world and adherence to authentic identity, contributing to raising a conscious Arab child who is committed to their culture and capable of interacting positively with global changes.
