English Two teaching staff from the Faculty of Science / University of Kirkuk published a paper in one of the reliable international journals
In the context of the academic activities of the members at the Faculty of Science at the University of Kirkuk, Prof. Dr. Ali Hussein Taqi and Assistant Lecturer Malik Abdullah Hassan from the Department of Physics published co-authored research "Effect of the pairing types and pairing strength on the ground state properties of even and odd Mg isotopes" in the International Journal of Modern Physics E. The journal is Scopus and Clarivate indexed.
The study examined the effect of different pairing types and pairing strength between nucleons and how they affect the properties of the nuclei of odd and even magnesium isotopes, using the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov theory and Skyrme reactions (SLY6and SKI3). The pairing strength was adjusted based on the theoretical pairing energy results between nucleons compared with the experimental data available for each odd and even isotope separately. Then specific equations were formulated for each case and each pairing type. These equations were applied to calculate the ground state characteristics of magnesium isotopes.
The results of the equations showed that some nuclear properties depend largely on the type of pairing, whether volumetric, superficial or mixed, and on the strength of the pairing. This strength is important in the theoretical results and their conformity with the experimental data available for each isotope.
