As part of the activities and achievements of Kirkuk University / College of Science in the field of publishing scientific research, Assistant Lecturer Shaheen Muhammad Agha Al-Harmuzi, teaching assistant at the College of Science / Department of Applied Geology, published a joint scientific research entitled (‘Robust Multi-Output Machine Learning Regression for Seismic Hazard Model’) in the journal ( International Journal of Earth Science) , in cooperation with a researcher from Çukurova University. The Journal of Earth Science is one of the reputable international journals specialized in the field of natural disasters. It is classified within the Scopus and Clarivate indexes (Q1) and has a high impact factor of 3.3, affiliated with the reputable international publishing house Springer Nature.

This research is considered one of the distinguished researches in the field of natural disasters, as the researchers relied on employing artificial intelligence (AI) techniques in the field of geophysics and seismology, to develop seismic hazard areas in Turkey, Iraq, and Iran through the use of a new seismic hazard index known as 'Peak Crust Acceleration (PCA)', and this This increases the accuracy of forecasting the occurrence of natural disasters in the future and how to mitigate their effects. “Introducing PCA as a new seismic hazard indicator is a testament to the innovative approach taken by the two researchers in harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to advance the field of earthquake monitoring and analysis.
