Under the supervision of Professor Dr. Muhammad Talat Abbas, Dean of the College, the College of Pharmacy organized a solidarity vigil on Sunday morning, August 3, 2025, to commemorate the souls of all Iraqi martyrs and victims of the genocide on the National Day of Remembrance for the Yazidis and Other Communities.
The vigil, attended by a number of college members, began with a minute of silence, followed by the recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah in memory of the martyrs. They asked God Almighty to bestow His mercy and forgiveness upon them and to grant them a place in His spacious gardens.
In his speech during the vigil, Professor Dr. Muhammad Talat Abbas, Dean of the College, emphasized that "this painful occasion reminds us of our humanitarian and national duty towards all Iraqi communities. It calls on us to promote the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence and to reject all forms of violence and extremism." He added that the Yazidis and other indigenous communities in this country have made great sacrifices that must be respected and immortalized in the national memory.
