About the Department

The Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences was established at the College of Pharmacy following the directive of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (Scientific Affairs Dept. 3/3/8606 on 06/09/2018) and University Order (7/17/11297 on 30/09/2018) issued by the University of Kirkuk. Its establishment was based on the essential need of the College of Pharmacy and the Iraqi Ministry of Health to develop the scientific expertise of students regarding chemical, physiological, and pathological changes in the human body and its various tissues, while understanding the relationship between clinical sciences and the field of pharmacy.

Vision

The department focuses on teaching basic medical sciences such as anatomy, histology, physiology, biochemistry, and microbiology (bacteria, viruses, and pathogenic parasites), as well as health immunology, pathology, and pathological analysis. It also strives to establish specialized laboratories in clinical biochemistry, biology, anatomy, and medical physics.

Mission

To graduate students who are scientifically, academically, and practically qualified to support the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Higher Education, other governmental sectors, and the community with specialized professionals in pharmaceutical sciences.

Objectives

Scientifically and academically preparing students with medical and humanitarian knowledge and its relation to pharmaceutical sciences, and training them in hospitals. The department also aims to initiate postgraduate studies (High Diploma, Master's, and PhD) in clinical biochemistry, microbiology, anatomy, and physiology.
