The College of Nursing Continues the Summer Training Program for Third-Stage Students in the Maternal and Neonatal Health Nursing branch

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Kirkuk, Prof. Dr. Hiwa Satar Saleh, the Maternal and Neonatal Health Nursing Department continues to implement the summer training program for third-stage students (morning and evening studies). The program is under the direct supervision of the Head of the Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Suhaila Mohammed Ali Suleiman, and the Department Coordinator, Lecturer Waleed Ibrahim Saad, with continuous follow-up from the department’s faculty and technicians.

The program is being implemented during the month of July in Kirkuk city hospitals, as part of the in-person clinical training plan for the period from July 1, 2026, to July 31, 2026, completing the requirements of the annual curriculum for third-stage students.

The clinical training in the pediatric surgical and internal medicine wards at the Maternity, Gynecology, and Pediatrics Hospital focused on common medical conditions and basic nursing procedures. During the training, students were introduced to several surgical and medical cases and the mechanisms for dealing with them according to scientific principles.

Students also received practical training on monitoring vital signs, assessing medical conditions, patient care, and administering prescribed treatments. This was alongside applying various nursing skills, including giving injections, handling medical tubes, and documenting nursing procedures in patient records.

This program comes within the framework of the College of Nursing's keenness to develop its students' clinical skills and enhance their professional competence, contributing to preparing nursing staff capable of providing distinguished healthcare in accordance with the highest professional standards.
