The College of Nursing organized a workshop on academic seasonality and its impact on human health

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr.omran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Nursing, Professor Dr. Hewa Sattar Saleh, the Department of Basic Sciences, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Nursing, organized an awareness workshop for first-year students on Sunday, March 29, 2026, entitled “Seasonal Allergies and Their Impact on Human Health.”

The workshop was presented by a group of faculty members from the college:

  • Assistant Lecturer Amina Ali Redha
  • Assistant Lecturer Shereen Najat Majid

The workshop aimed to enhance students’ health awareness regarding seasonal allergies and to introduce methods of managing and preventing their symptoms, especially during seasonal changes.

It addressed several key topics, including:

  • An introductory overview of seasonal allergies
  • Their causes and contributing factors
  • The most common symptoms, such as frequent sneezing, skin itching, eye redness, and shortness of breath
  • Their impact on human health, including reduced activity and concentration, and sleep disturbances
  • Methods of prevention and treatment

At the conclusion of the workshop, several important recommendations were made, including:

  • Avoiding excessive use of medications without medical consultation
  • Seeking medical advice when symptoms worsen
  • Promoting health awareness among community members
  • Maintaining personal and environmental hygiene
  • Strengthening immunity through healthy nutrition
  • Wearing face masks when exposed to dusty conditions
