Professor Dr. Hiwa Sattar Saleh, Dean of the College of Nursing, chaired the master thesis discussion committee for the student Tchrou Mirza Qadir (Sulaimaniyah University / College of Nursing) for her thesis titled (Assessing the quality of life of patients suffering from ischemic heart disease in the city of Rania.) on Monday, 10/30/ 2023
Methodology: A quantitative design, a descriptive study was conducted on 80 patients diagnosed with IHD at Rania Teaching Hospital in Rania City. A non-purposeful probability sample technique was conducted in October 2022 with the SF36 questionnaire on quality of life consisting of eight domains; The researcher collected data through a direct interview with each patient. Data were analyzed using Stable Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26,
Results: The results showed that more than half of the samples (56.3%) were male, and half of them were female. The sample is over 60 years old, they do not receive sufficient income, more than half of the sample is overweight or obese, and 68.8% suffer from chronic diseases. Unfortunately, more than three quarters of the participants (78.75%) had a poor quality of life, as a significant relationship was found between the general areas of quality of life with gender and monthly income of patients, in addition to a significant relationship with patients that do irregularly.
Conclusions: The most prominent findings of the current study are that patients with ischemic heart disease suffer from a poor quality of life. Moreover, old age, male gender, poor economic status, weight gain, and chronic diseases are common risk factors that have an important role in the patients’ quality of life. and diagnosis of ischemic heart disease.
Recommendation: Encouraging patients with coronary heart disease to organize their lives and conduct a regular screening test for people over 40 years of age for early detection of any heart problem, especially for people with a family history
