Master’s Thesis at the University of Kirkuk Examines Workload in Relation to Psychological, Social, and Physical Well-being Among Faculty Members

n the presence of the President of the University of Kirkuk, Prof. Dr. omran Jamal Hassan, and the Dean of the College of Nursing, Prof. Dr. Hiwa Sattar Saleh, the College of Nursing at the University of Kirkuk hosted the defense of a Master’s thesis titled "Academic Workload Associated with the Psychological, Social, and Physical Well-Being Among Faculty Members."

Presented by the researcher Badriya Nouri Mish'an, the study aimed to assess academic workload levels among faculty members and examine their relationship with dimensions of psychological, social, and physical well-being. Employing a quantitative descriptive correlational methodology, the research surveyed a sample of 402 out of approximately 1,830 faculty members distributed across 10 of the university’s 19 colleges.

The findings revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between academic workload and psychological well-being, alongside a statistically significant negative correlation between academic workload and both social and physical well-being. This indicates that an increased academic workload is associated with a decline in social and physical well-being among teaching staff. The thesis concluded with a series of actionable recommendations at both institutional and individual levels, alongside proposed avenues for future research.
