The University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Media, Kirkuk University, organized an awareness lecture entitled "Utilizing Social Media to Combat Negative Phenomena: Bullying as a Case Study." The lecture aimed to raise awareness of the psychological and social dangers of bullying, foster a culture of mutual respect and tolerance among students, and contribute to creating a safe and verbally abuse-free university environment.
The lecture addressed various forms of bullying, including discrimination, exclusion, and verbal abuse. It highlighted the role of social media in raising awareness about the dangers of this phenomenon and reducing its spread, while encouraging the positive use of digital platforms to promote a culture of tolerance and acceptance of differences. The lecture also emphasized that bullying is not a casual joke, but rather a behavior that can leave painful and difficult-to-overcome psychological scars.
The Dean of the Faculty of Media, Professor Dr. Mu'ad Assi Ali, affirmed the faculty's commitment to continuing to organize lectures and awareness activities that contribute to spreading a culture of mutual respect, raising awareness of the dangers of bullying, and instilling the values of accepting differences and rejecting discrimination and exclusion, thus contributing to providing a safe and positive university environment.
The lecture concluded by emphasizing the importance of utilizing social media to spread awareness, confront negative phenomena, promote positive behavior among students, and establish a university environment characterized by respect and understanding, under the slogan: "Together towards a safe environment free from verbal violence."
