Professor Dr. Aram Mohammed Rahim, a faculty member at the College of Media at Kirkuk University, participated in the 6th International Conference on Geotechnical Engineering – Iraq, held in Baghdad from October 7-8, 2026, with a joint research paper titled:
“Utilization of GIS Technology to Evaluate the Noise Levels at Various Kirkuk City Hospitals.”
The research explored the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to analyze and evaluate noise levels in several healthcare facilities in Kirkuk. This was achieved by integrating environmental measurements with spatial analysis, thereby revealing spatial variations in noise levels and identifying areas of high and low noise levels around healthcare facilities.
The research highlights the importance of employing modern technologies in studying environmental and urban issues related to healthcare institutions. This provides spatial data that can be used in environmental planning, healthcare facility management, improving the environment surrounding medical institutions, and supporting data-driven decision-making.
This scientific participation comes within the framework of enhancing the academic presence of Kirkuk University in international forums and conferences, and encouraging interdisciplinary research and scientific cooperation between different disciplines, especially in the fields that combine spatial analysis, digital technologies, and environmental and service issues, in order to enhance the role of scientific research in addressing the challenges related to the urban environment and the quality of services in the city of Kirkuk.
