The College of Media has launched an awareness campaign titled "Be Aware" (Kun Wa’iyan)—under the slogan "The Future of Media Begins with a Free Mind"—aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drugs and their health, psychological, social, and academic impacts. The campaign seeks to instill concepts of prevention, responsibility, and positive behavior within the university environment.
The campaign addresses key health and psychological risks associated with drug abuse, including nervous system dysfunction, impaired concentration and memory, and potential repercussions for both mental and physical health.
It also highlights social and academic risks—foremost among them a decline in academic performance and motivation, as well as strained family and social relationships—and the behavioral, legal, and financial problems resulting from drug use that can jeopardize an individual's future.
This initiative reflects the College of Media’s commitment to fostering a culture of prevention and health awareness within the university. It encourages students and the university community to make safe choices and avoid behaviors that threaten their health and futures, while emphasizing the importance of seeking support from relevant health authorities and specialists when needed.
Professor Dr. Maad Assi Ali, Dean of the College of Media, emphasized that confronting the dangers of drugs is a shared responsibility requiring a synergy of individual, familial, and institutional awareness. He underscored the vital role universities play in promoting preventive awareness and cultivating a conscious generation capable of protecting themselves and their society. "Be Aware"—because protecting the mind is the first step toward building a safer future.
