In an effort to promote interest in scholarly resources and develop skills in bookbinding and restoration, the College of Media at Kirkuk University held a specialized training workshop entitled "The Art of Bookbinding and Restoration" in the college library.
The workshop aimed to introduce participants to modern methods and techniques for bookbinding and restoration, and to protect books and scholarly resources from damage and deterioration. It also aimed to develop participants' skills in handling and restoring old and damaged books, thereby extending their lifespan and preserving their scholarly content.
The workshop covered several key topics, including: an introduction to the art of bookbinding and its importance; types and methods of binding; tools and materials used in binding and restoration; methods for treating damaged pages and covers; and proper book preservation and storage techniques. Practical applications were also included, using examples of books.
The Dean of the Faculty of Media, Professor Dr. Mu'ad Assi Ali, commended the workshop, emphasizing the importance of caring for the faculty library and its scholarly resources, providing appropriate means for their preservation, and supporting training activities that contribute to developing the practical and theoretical skills of faculty members.
This workshop is part of the Faculty of Media's efforts to enhance scholarly and training activities and improve the care provided to the scholarly resources and holdings in the faculty library.
