Under the patronage of the President of Kirkuk University, Prof. Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision and attendance of the Dean of the College of Law and Political Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Murad Saeb Mahmoud, and coinciding with the occasion of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Continuing Education Division, in cooperation with the Human Rights Unit and the Women's Affairs Unit at the college, held a scientific symposium entitled (The Basic Foundations of Human Rights).
The scientific symposium, in which Assistant Professor Dr. Manaf Salim Hassoun, Head of the Human Rights Unit, Lecturer Dr. Rosa Hussein Nemat, Head of the Women's Affairs Unit, and Assistant Lecturer Mariwan Saleh, Ahmed, lectured, discussed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a historical document in the history of human rights. This declaration was drafted by representatives of various legal and cultural figures from all over the world, and has been translated into more than 500 languages, making it the most translated document in the world.
The symposium addressed the basic values of human rights, namely human dignity and equality. Human rights can be understood by identifying those basic standards necessary to secure a decent life.
